Wow, what a wedding! When I was contacted by Hannah, it was fairly short notice as her original photographer couldn't make it! I am SO pleased I had the availability because Hannah and Nicky were the sweetest couple! The staff at Southlands Barn were also very helpful and friendly. I had never shot a wedding there before, but I hope to return another time and would definitely recommend this venue to future couples.
The weather was amazing, and not a rain cloud in sight. The outdoor ceremony was a go! And just look at that stunning backdrop.
The barn was all set and ready for the reception, and I couldn't resist taking a little sneak peek inside...
It all looked fantastic, and I especially loved the dried pampas grass and twinkling fairy lights.
Then it was time to go on the hunt for Nicky to see how the nerves were holding up.
Nicky was definitely feeling the nerves, and I got to take a first look at her dress!! (Definitely one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer, getting to see all the amazing dresses.) Apart from some nerves, the girls were all pretty chilled, and everything seemed to be going to plan. Then there was talk of Hannah arriving! So I nipped off to go and check out the second bride-to-be!
Nicky had mentioned getting a first look with Hannah and her dad... I have to say, Hannah's dad couldn't look more proud and definitely nailed it! Just look at that smile from Hannah, I can tell these two lovebirds are made for each other! I leave Hannah and her dad to hide out of view from slowly arriving guests but not before I snap a pic of the two of them sharing a toast!
I get back to Nicky and the girls just as Mum is finishing buttoning up the AMAZING dress. I love the lace detail on the back of this dress.
Time was really starting to fly, and mum and daughter had a reassuring hug before Nicky's dad arrived!
Where I soon learned Nicky's dad is a big jokester, but also a secret softy ;-) I do love a cheeky dad, they make my job much more fun!
Time for some candids... Yes, one guest had trainers on and she insisted it was because her shoes broke... yet she suspiciously had a matching handbag that went surprisingly well with her trainers... I personally think the trainers looked great with her outfit!
Moving on to the ceremony! First up, we had Nicky's daughter as the sole bridesmaid, and she nailed it! She looked as cool as a cucumber. Next, we had Hannah and her dad, and last but certainly not least, Nicky and her dad! I LOVE the way the dads greeted each other; they both showed complete and utter pride in their daughters. Then I did something I have never done before... I ran backwards down the aisle while taking pictures just in front of the brides and their dads! I am SO glad I did not end up on my bottom!
It was totally worth the run to see that loving glance!
Tears were certainly shed during the ceremony, serving as a powerful testament to the deep love shared by this family.
Congratulations, you beautiful pair!
