A Fun, Candid Southsea Castle Wedding Photographer
Cannons, a lighthouse and the sea as your backdrop. Need I say more?
Looking for a Southsea Castle wedding photographer who keeps things relaxed, catches all the real moments, and makes your seafront day look every bit as magic as it felt? Hello, you have found me. I am Emma, a fun and candid wedding photographer based right here in Portsmouth, and Southsea Castle is quite literally on my doorstep. Getting to photograph a wedding at a Tudor castle by the sea, minutes from home? Yes please.

About Southsea Castle
Southsea Castle is one of Portsmouth’s most striking landmarks, and it has been standing guard over the seafront for a very long time. Henry VIII had it built in 1544 as part of his coastal defences, positioned to watch over the Solent and the approach to Portsmouth. These days the cannons have happily been swapped for confetti, and its whitewashed walls, old lighthouse and grassy ramparts make a gorgeous, characterful backdrop for a wedding right on the Southsea seafront.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings Here
A few reasons Southsea Castle has my heart:
- It is right on the seafront, so you get sea, sky and that lovely coastal light all in one place.
- It is full of character. Historic walls, the old lighthouse and the ramparts give you backdrops you simply will not get at a modern venue.
- It is brilliantly central, with the whole of Southsea and the Portsmouth skyline a moment away for portraits.
- It has a relaxed, unstuffy feel that suits couples who want their day to be about fun and each other, not fuss.

Lighting It Beautifully
Here is where I get to show off a little. I am ranked in the top ten in the world for flash by Flashmaster, so if your celebration rolls on into the evening, or the famous British weather decides to gatecrash, you are in very safe hands. Grey skies and golden light are both fair game. When everyone else packs the camera away, I am only just getting started.

A Real Wedding at Southsea Castle
Molly and Kerry tied the knot at Southsea Castle on the most glorious July day, all sunflowers, bubble confetti and happy tears, before a brilliant party nearby. We even snuck off for golden hour in a scrappy patch of long grass by a main road, and it turned into some of my favourite frames of the whole year. You can see their full day over on the blog: Molly & Kerry’s Southsea Castle wedding.

Kind Words From A Southsea Castle Couple
“I’ve been to so many weddings where the photographer was just in the background but Emma was apart of our wedding from the offset. She has the best personality ever and makes everyone feel at ease and makes people laugh.”

The Fun Bits
Two brides, a castle full of their favourite people and a walk back through the food festival. This is my kind of wedding!
