A Fun, Candid Queens Hotel Wedding Photographer
Stunning interiors, the beach on your doorstep and a dancefloor that never lets me down.
Hello, I’m Emma, a Portsmouth based wedding photographer, and The Queens Hotel is right on my patch. It is a grand old seafront hotel with bags of character, and it happens to sit moments from one of my favourite portrait spots anywhere, the Southsea seafront at sunset. If you are getting married here and you want someone who will capture all the real, joyful, slightly chaotic moments AND light it beautifully, hello, you are in the right place.

About The Queens Hotel, Southsea
The Queens Hotel is a striking Victorian hotel standing proudly on the Southsea seafront in Portsmouth. Inside you get sweeping staircases, a ballroom full of crystal chandeliers and beautiful ornate windows, and out front there are grand stone steps that are made for a confetti tunnel. Being right on the front means Southsea Common, the war memorial and the pretty seafront shelters are all a short stroll away, which is brilliant for couple portraits. It’s elegant, full of character, and there’s a photo round every corner.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings Here
- That chandelier ballroom. Grand, elegant and perfect for a flash-lit ceremony.
- The Southsea seafront on the doorstep. Sunset silhouettes, the seafront shelters and the war memorial, all a couple of minutes away.
- Those front steps. Perfect for a big, colourful confetti moment.
- The staircase and foyer. Gorgeous spots for dramatic flash-lit couple portraits once the sun goes down.

Lighting It Beautifully
Grand ballrooms are gorgeous, but they can be tricky to photograph well, and this is where I come in. I light my Queens Hotel ceremonies and receptions with off camera flash, so the room looks as rich and warm as it feels, everyone is crisp and beautifully lit, and the whole day has real depth and drama. It is a big part of why I am currently ranked in the top ten in the world for flash wedding photography on the Flash Masters leaderboard.

A Real Wedding at The Queens Hotel
Have a nosy at a real day I photographed here: Whitney and John’s fun, flash-lit Queens Hotel wedding, complete with a confetti blizzard, a sunset serenade and a whole lot of dancefloor shenanigans.
Want to see The Queens after dark? Have a look at Whitney and John’s flash-lit night portraits, from the glowing canopy sign out front to the painted dome, the chandelier foyer and that moody staircase landing.
The Fun Bits
Pulled faces, tongues out and a whole lot of dancing. The Queens always brings the party!
