Fun Wedding Photography in Portsmouth Hampshire
A Joyful Portsmouth Wedding
Some couples just make your whole day brighter from the moment you meet them. Sam and Warren are exactly that kind of people and I genuinely loved every single second of this wedding.
They booked my essentials package — they didn’t want any fuss, just a celebration of the two of them with their closest people around them. And honestly that’s exactly what they got, and it was absolutely perfect.
Getting Ready in Portsmouth
When I arrived I was greeted by Warren, his mum and his sister. Warren had brought along a small trinket with a photo of his late dad — a quiet, private way of keeping him close on such a big day. When his mum saw it she was completely taken by surprise and it moved her to tears. One of those genuinely beautiful moments that reminds you what weddings are really all about. Carrying the people we love with us even when they can’t be there.
The Ceremony at Portsmouth Registry Office
Sam arrived on her dad’s arm absolutely beaming. She has one of those smiles that genuinely lights up an entire room and the moment she walked in the whole atmosphere lifted. Warren — sensible, steady, clearly completely smitten — held it together brilliantly.
The guests were just as warm and wonderful as the couple themselves and on the way out of the registry office the hugs were flowing freely — big, happy, genuine celebrations of two people who everyone clearly adore.
With another wedding waiting outside I made a quick decision and led everyone around the corner into the gardens for the confetti moment — which worked beautifully. We then did family formals in the gardens and I nipped up to the first floor office to shoot everyone from the window above — they absolutely loved that and it gave us something a little different and really fun.
The Reception at The Churchillian, Portsdown Hill
The Churchillian is perched right on top of Portsdown Hill in Cosham and the views are just extraordinary — panoramic views across Portsmouth, the Solent, the Isle of Wight and Hayling Island stretching out in every direction. It is a brilliant venue for a wedding reception and the Seaview function room is a genuinely lovely space.
I got everyone out onto the balcony for a group shot and photographed them from below looking up.
The speeches were full of banter and warmth and laughter in equal measure — exactly what you want from a room full of people who genuinely love each other.
And then as the golden hour crept in I whisked Sam and Warren away for a few couples portraits and honestly they were just brilliant. Natural, warm, completely at ease with each other and with me. Exactly the kind of couple I love spending time with.
A short day but an absolutely brilliant one. Sam and Warren — thank you for letting me be part of it 💕
